Fall Forage
We received a shipment of beautiful forest-themed tea towels just in time for the holidays! These are hand-printed on 100% European linen and at only $26 would make a perfect gift.
I am so lucky to have a little brother that loves to mushroom hunt and actually knows what he's doing (he studied mycology in college). He gifted me a bag of chanterelles while I was visiting for Thanksgiving, they are my favorite mushroom ever! I love them simply sauteed in a little butter and garlic finished with a touch of cream, served on a thick slice of toast and sprinkled with a bit of parsley.

Chicken Paprikash
The cold is definitely upon us, it snowed in Portland earlier today and is supposed to continue tonight and through tomorrow. Seems like winter is coming a little early this year and I'm trying to keep warm with comforting foods. I felt like trying something new the other night and settled on chicken paprikash.
I was planning on making chicken and dumplings but didn't feel like trekking out to the store and magically had all the ingredients needed for the traditional Hungarian dish. I made a few modifications as I always seem to do. I substituted plain Greek yogurt for the sour cream and added some garlic (because seriously why would you not add garlic?). I was feeling lazy so I instead of making those probably-really-delicious little dumplings I used some Bavarian spaetzle that was hanging out in my pantry, so good!

Dace Fall 2010
DACE Fall 2010 from Dace on Vimeo.
The Fall 2010 Dace collection has landed at Summerland, I just love the video they made to present the collection. Wish I was lounging around reading love letters in my cozy Kent dress in a gorgeous mid-century house by a fog wrapped lake. That would be nice.

Super Swede
I stopped into a Swedish import store the other day while I was killing time before meeting up with some friends for bingo (I really know how to have a good time). This is what I came out with, though I think I probably could have bought up the whole store if I wasn't saving my money for bingo cards. In particular was an adorable dala horse serving tray that I had a really hard time passing up, as well as some pretty dishtowels and expensive lace yardage. Totally would have gone back everything if I had won big money. Next time!
Clockwise: licorice mints, an advent candle, note pad, guest soap and a wooden dala magnet. Score!

Jewels of New York
I am constantly inspired by The Jewels of New York, a catering business owned by two friends with a love for cooking and the beauty of everyday things. Under the recipes section you'll find several simple and delicious looking recipes that are gorgeously styled. I only wish that they updated more often!

Delphine Manivet
A long engagement sure does give a girl a lot of time to think about lace, flowers, white silk and champagne. I've never been the type to spend hours daydreaming about my perfect wedding but my heart skipped a beat when I came across the dress line from Delphine Manivet.
Aren't they amazing? The first one is really making me starry eyed....hopefully I'll have a chance to see them up close and personal soon!

Lou's Place
A little look into Lou Doillon's home in Paris, courtesy of The Selby's second book to be released soon. I spy a teeny tiny live bunny, so sweet. Lou has always been a great inspiration to me...I guess I consider her to be the underdog of the Jane Birkin clan with everyone being sooo crazy about her sister Charlotte. Lou is my favorite, I love her slight awkwardness and rebellious little sister attitude.

Cold Tofu Salad
I threw together this salad the other day to use up some silken tofu I picked up during an epic shopping trip at Asian superstore Uwajimaya. I always go there with the intention of just picking up a thing or two and emerge two hours later with a million bags of goodies. I also found the cat section in the bookstore that was almost too good to be true! Photographic evidence:
Back to the salad! This turned out so so delicious, I've already made it a few more times. Here are the components:
-raw sliced cabbage (if that's not your thing substitute any green you like)
-cubes of silken tofu
-carrot
-chopped scallion
-perfectly ripe avocado
-sesame seeds
-miso dressing
-drizzle of sesame oil and soy
-sriracha to your liking
I'm pretty sure this is going to be my go-to lunch this Summer. This and caprese....and panzanella. I've been a little salad crazy these days.

Dream Cake
I cannot believe my eyes! My hometown favorite Cypress Grove makes a wedding cake (or any occasion cake, really) out of their award winning goat cheese. My favorite cheese in the world is Humboldt Fog, if you haven't tried it you really should. Gossip Girl even gave it a shout out - haha. I believe that is a giant wheel of it there on the bottom. I'm drooling.
